Metal Jerry Cans
- Inspect seal with each use and replace if damaged or worn. These are available for sale individually on this website.
- Always follow instructions on label for opening and closing lid. Click here for instructions.
- Not following instructions of closing can lead to misalignment of lid. This can be fixed by following instructions here.
- Inspect body of Can for impact damage or dents that may cause fracture of internal enamel lining. A split in the internal lining will allow the underlying steel to be exposed and oxidation could occur. Â
- Always filter fuel being poured into fuel tanks to minimise risk of contaminants entering tank. Most Pro Quip Metal Jerry Can Pourers have built in filter mesh.
- Always store the Can in a cool, well ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
- This Can should Never be used near open flames.
- Not designed for the storage of water.
- External powder coat should be inspected for scratches or exposed areas which can allow the appearance of spot rust. Clean away and touch up paint as necessary for longevity.
- Metal Jerry Cans should not be stored on an unsealed concrete surface. Scrapes from concrete can break through the outer powder coat layer and expose the bare steel underneath. Concrete is porous and absorbs moisture from the earth underneath as well as the atmosphere, so it should always be treated as a potentially wet surface.
- AS2700 colour coding set out by the National Council for Fire and Emergency Services in Australia and New Zealand (AFAC) provides quick and easy recognition of fuels within portable metal fuel containers. Metal Cans designated for use by the general public are not bound by this colour coding standard.
- The internal lining of Pro Quip Metal Jerry Cans, regardless of exterior colour, is designed for use with all pump fuels and fuels designated under the AFAC colour coding standard.
