Empty Time

Weight When Full
Consider the weight of your fuel can when empty and full. A metal can isn’t all that much heavier than plastic when filled to nominal capacity. Two smaller cans may be easier to lift and store than one large can. Weight distribution around your vehicle when travelling is extremely important; consider 10L and 15L sizes to keep everything in balance.
Service Life
A properly maintained Pro Quip Metal Jerry can last over 20 years. Pro Quip plastic cans will also last if looked after however the ADG code recommends changing HDPE plastic containers after 5 years of service. Nitrile Seals should be inspected regularly and replaced as necessary. Just like on a vehicle, seals will eventually age or wear and need replacement. For over 30 years the Pro Quip Metal Jerry Can has been the highest quality portable fuel storage option on the Australian market. All Pro Quip Metal Jerry Cans are certified to AS2906:2001, stamped with UN approval and 20L versions meet stringent Defence Force Testing. Pro Quip offers 5, 10 and 20 Litre options of the Traditional Military Style Jerry Can in a wide range of colours to suit general purpose storage, camping and leisure use, emergency services use (AFAC colour coded range and ExploSafe range) and Military use (NSN).
Pro Quip Plastic Fuel containers are Australian Made, and use interchangeable spare parts which are available in stores that stock Pro Quip Fuel Cans as packs, as well as on our website individually.
All Pro Quip Plastic Fuel cans come with an internally stored pourer that will not get contaminated with dust and is far less likely to be lost. The Fast Pour design includes an external breather hole and cap to assist in fast flow, while the Safe-T-Pour design incorporates a special Pourer Filter that gives a stop-flow function and prevents fire flashbacks.
